Food At First (in Ames, Iowa) currently consists of two parts: a free meal program, and a perishable food pantry. Distribution happens at the “Free Market”, which now has two locations: 611 Clark Ave (First Christian Church), and 3626 Ontario St. (Trinity Reformed Church). Food at First collects and give perishable food away on the same day – distributions are at 4:45 to 5:30 PM every Monday and Thursday at First Christian Church, and 10:00 to 10:30 on Saturday mornings at BOTH locations.
Bethesda Community Food Pantry is located at Bethesda Lutheran Church. The church provides the facility and utilities, but no budget for the food pantry, thus, iti s supported by many individuals and organizations. Many groups regularly give to the food pantry, both financial contributions and donations of food. The Bethesda Community Food Pantry has received donations from 20 Ames area businesses, 20 different congregations, 19 civic groups, 9 ISU employee-student groups, 4 non-ISU public agencies, and 7 schools and youth programs. 1517 Northwestern Avenue, Ames, IA 50010

Ames Salvation Army Service Center, located at 703 East Lincolnway, serves all of Story County. The center serves in a variety of ways including housing and utility assistance, a food pantry, assistance with prescriptions and transportation, and a representative payee program.
